On the fast day of Tisha b’Av (the ninth day of the Hebrew month Av), we recall the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and we grieve for the many losses endured by the Jewish people throughout the ages and through to this very moment.

The Temple Israel Art Review Team and co-sponsors Newington Church and South Church Portsmouth invite you to attend a silent auction benefiting Hand in Hand Schools. This non-profit school group in Israel provides bilingual education for Jewish and Palestinian students, fostering understanding, respect, and friendship between families of different faiths and cultural backgrounds. Shavuot service with Yizkor in our flower-bedecked sanctuary, 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 12. Meet Reb Beni Summers, our 2024-25 rabbinic intern, who will be leading the services with Rabba Kaya.

Leadership Statement on Vandalism

On Monday night, April 8, 2024, an unknown individual intentionally smashed two antique light sconces on the front of our synagogue. These light fixtures have stained-glass panels on three sides that feature a Jewish star design. The perpetrator struck the glass directly on the Stars of David in a deliberate desecration of our sacred space and a bigoted attack on our faith community.
