Temple Israel offers a variety of High Holiday experiences for families with children, including babysitting, family services, and youth programs.
Children are always welcome in the sanctuary, and we encourage their participation throughout the holidays. Registration is required for all youth programs and babysitting to ensure we can provide the proper care for all children. Changing tables are available in both the women’s and men’s bathrooms, and busy bags and children’s books can be found in the sanctuary and library—just ask an usher.

Our gentle and engaging babysitting program offers a safe, nurturing space for little ones to play and connect during services. With experienced caregivers, age-appropriate toys, and a holiday-themed snack provided, children can enjoy a calm and cozy High Holiday experience while grownups attend services nearby. Registration is required to ensure we can provide proper care for all children.
Children ages 2½–5 may be dropped off in our babysitting room, where a light snack will be provided. Parents are also welcome to use the space with younger children under 2½, but are expected to remain with them. Please note that diaper changing is the responsibility of parents or guardians, and babysitters will not provide diapering services.
To keep the babysitting room safe and comfortable for our youngest children, we ask that it be used only by kids age 5 and under. Older children are warmly invited to participate in our other youth programs or spend time in the sanctuary, where busy bags are available. For quiet breaks, the library or Shmoozatorium are also great spaces to use. Thank you for helping us create a safe and welcoming environment for all!
Family services will be held at 9:45-10:45 on both the first and second days of Rosh Hashanah (Sept. 12 and 13) this year due to the weekend, as well as on Yom Kippur (Sept. 21).
The family service is structured for approximately 3rd-6th grade, or ages 8-11. Children under age 10 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. PJ Library Story Time will be held in the small chapel concurrently with a portion of family services for those who would benefit from a less structured setting (under age 8).
9:45-10:45 am Family Service
Join us for programming and services designed especially for families! With lively singing, storytelling, and age-appropriate prayers, kids and grownups alike will find meaning and connection in this warm and welcoming experience.
All families meet in the social hall at 9:45 to begin the service together as a community. After the introduction, children under age 8 and their families will be invited to the small chapel for PJ Library Story Time.
10:45-11:45 am Supervised Activities
After the formal programming is over, a variety of unstructured activities will be provided. Children can play games, complete puzzles, and more in the Social Hall, with supervision.
