Please join us for a Tisha b’Av Gathering in the Temple Israel Chapel. On the fast day of Tisha b’Av (the ninth day of the Hebrew month Av), we recall the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and we grieve for the many losses endured by the Jewish people throughout the ages.
In our days too, we are experiencing the devastating destruction of life in many forms. In commemoration of Tisha b’Av, Rabba Kaya Stern-Kaufman will lead us in songs and readings, including chanting from the book of Lamentations as we come together in community to find strength in our collective grief.
It is customary to sit on the floor/ground and read these texts by candlelight. Please bring a flashlight or cell phone and a cushion to sit upon. Chairs will also be available for anyone who prefers. Kindly register to receive updates.
